Inspired by conversations with players across the worldwide professional tours, including major champion Geoff Ogilvy. The A Grind is a wedge with 60° of loft and 4° of bounce and is ideal for the player looking for a sole that allows players to smoothly slide under the ball and flight the ball higher while playing from firm turf and bunkers.
Born out of the popular Vokey Design L Grind, the grind line on the sole is smoothed out resulting in a faster feel through the turf.
Who is it for?
The 60 A Grind is a good lob wedge option for players playing in firmer soil conditions, firmer bunkers, or players with shallow deliveries who still like to feel the club move quickly and smoothly through the turf when hitting shots around the green.
Currently played by US Open Champion Wyndham Clark.
“I spoke with Geoff (Ogilvy), and we got on the topic of Australian golf courses and how they compared to courses in America and around the world. I asked him some specific questions which resulted in an idea to design another lob wedge grind option that complemented the firm links-style conditions that players face – not just in Australia and Europe – but globally. Geoff has always been a low bounce player in his 60 degree, so I took his 60.04L wedge and removed the ribbon, resulting in a grind that moves through the turf quickly with very little resistance.” Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill
Like many low bounce wedges, this smooth, fast feeling wedge requires precise delivery at impact.
NEW PATENTED SPIN MILLED PROCESS FOR MAXIMUM SPIN
A new Spin Milled cutting process in the SM9 models – which
includes tightening our allowable tolerances - produces consistently sharper
grooves wedge after wedge, resulting in higher, more consistent spin rates.
- Spin Milled Grooves are the Gold Standard in groove cutting precision - meticulously engineered and cut to the edge to maximise spin and shot control. Each Vokey wedge head is 100% inspected for utmost quality and performance.
- Micro-grooves are individually cut in between grooves, which maximises spin on partial shots.
- A proprietary heat treatment is applied to the impact area to double the durability of the groove without impacting feel – making it the most durable groove in golf.
- Each groove is individually cut based on loft and finish, deeper grooves and higher lofts (56°-62°) with wider, shallower grooves.
