U.S. professional golfer Natalie Gulbis has enjoyed an illustrious career that has spanned over a decade, while establishing herself as a firm favourite amongst fans of sport from around the world.
Despite winning just one event on the LPGA Tour, Gulbis has successfully become one of the biggest names in ladies golf - and is often categorised alongside Morgan Pressel and Paula Creamer.
Born in Sacramento, California, in January 1983, the talented professional showed an interest in the world of golf at the age of four and went on to win her first tournament at just seven years old.
She took part in her first LPGA Tour event as an amateur in 1997, at the age of 14 before becoming the top player on the Boys Golf Team at Granite Bay High School.
Gulbis was then offered a scholarship to the University of Arizona, but left after just one-year to turn professional in July 2001.
Despite not winning an event until her sixth season, the talented star finished sixth on the LPGA Tour money list in her fourth season, earning over $1 million USD in 2005.
In 2004, Gulbis caused quite a stir by posing for a calendar - featuring pictures of her playing golf and flaunting her figure in lingerie - which led officials at the 2004 Women’s Open to ban the merchandise by being sold.
She has become a world-famous pin-up for male fans of the sport and began writing a monthly advice column for men's magazine FHM in 2006.
Her first professional victory came at the 2007 Evian Masters in France, where she tapped in for a two-putt birdie on the first extra hole to defeat Jeong Jang in a play-off round.
During the tournament, Gulbis staged a sensational comeback to take the crown, having started the final round four strokes behind overnight leader Julie Inkster.
Showing her incredible skills, the American started as she meant to go on with birdies at the first, sixth and ninth holes.
More recently, Gulbis has taken part in the Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge in 2007, 2009 and 2013. The unofficial event brings some of the best professionals from the LPGA, PGA and Champions PGA Tours to Nevada. Putting three players from each campaign against each other for bragging rights and their share of the million-dollar prize fund.
