Callaway Rogue ST MAX OS Irons (Steel Shaft)

Having previously ordered the 5-PW in Callaway Rogue I was amazed at how easy the longer irons were to hit. With that in mind I was desperate to find a 4-iron to finish the set. I normally would not carry a 4-iron but given how easy the 5-iron was to hit I wanted to give it a try. Not easy to source but GolfOnline had it in stock and shipped the next day. Brilliant service and put it in play in my next round with great success.

Great 4 Iron for my ability, much better replacement for my older club.

Originally purchased 7, 8, 9 Irons & PW and have subsequently added 6 Iron and SW. They work ideally for me as they are strong in performance especially distance which was my main reason for purchase. Haven’t fully quite cracked wedges in terms of subtlety of touch or control as yet ; just off the green I would say little pitches, chips, bump and runs with 8 or 9 Irons the ball comes flies off “very hot” regardless of human effort, so probably irons that wouldn’t suit better Players who have good touch. That said for me as high handicapper money well spent.

I have a set of Callaway Mavrik Max Irons but the lofts leave gaps in your bag, so I was on the look out for a gap wedge. I tried to get a Mavrik Max but difficult to find a single iron so opted for the Rogue ST Max OS based on reviews. Initially I was put off by the shape as it is slightly higher than the Mavrik, but after I have been using it for a couple of months and am getting the hang of it. Good club, is it as forgiving as the reviews say I am not sure but then how do you measure forgiveness.

So, I’ve been playing golf inconsistently for a few years, decided to throw myself into it in January and fell in love with the game. Had 4/5 lessons, managed to take myself from not being able to use irons at all to nearly all of my iron shots being fairly decent. Over the last month, I’ve had lessons on driver and 3 wood but cannot seem to get the hang of it at all. It sounds funny but I seriously can not hit a decent tee shot with a wood for love nor money. So I’d been taking either 5 hybrid (the only wood I can hit well) or a 6 iron off the tee. Whilst consistency has helped me score better, I’m still massively lacking the distance. I heard a lot of people say 3/4 irons are hard to hit, so I decided to go for a 4 iron anyway as I love my irons and feel confident, although I was very worried that I wouldn’t be able to hit the 4 iron at all. Genuinely cannot believe how easy it was to hit and this thing flys!! Absolutely smashing iron shots straight (sometimes right…) but it’s going so much longer than both my hybrid and 6 iron as it should. I went for this version as it is specifically designed for higher handicappers and i do not regret it one bit! 10/10 service, lots of delivery notifications and came 3 days earlier than expected. No complaints at all from me, thoroughly pleased and lets hope I can get my handicap down now!
